Anthony Browne has been selected as the Conservative candidate for South Cambridgeshire for the next General Election.
Anthony, a former journalist with the Times newspaper and the BBC, who now invests in and manages start-up tech firms, was selected by members of the South CambsConservative Association today, Saturday, July 20.
Anthony, who oversaw economic and business policy for Boris Johnson in his first term as Mayor of London, will campaign to regain a seat, which was held by the Conservatives until the defection of MP Heidi Allen in February.
His campaign will focus on securing better funding for schools, delivering on quality housing and social care and improving transport links and infrastructure.
“I am delighted to be selected as the Conservative candidate for South Cambs,” Anthony said. “It is essential that the next MP is a Conservative - South Cambs deserves a strong constituency MP. Only the Conservatives can build a country that works for everyone with a stronger, fair economy and a more caring society. I want to become MP for South Cambs to make sure the good people of this areasee their hard work recognised and rewarded so they can lead fulfilling, happy lives,” he added.
