At the Association's Executive Council meeting on 29th November a motion was passed supporting the Prime Minister and the current Brexit deal – Ben Shelton, the Association's Chairman, was asked to write to Theresa May to communicate this to her.
She replied on 18th December with this note:
Dear Ben,
Thank you very much for your recent email on behalf of the Executive Council of the South Cambridgeshire Conservative Association. It was very good of you to get in touch and I greatly appreciate your support.
Our deal with the EU delivers on the result of the referendum – taking back control of our money, our laws and our borders, while at the same time protecting people's jobs, security and the precious Union between the four nations of our United Kingdom.
While there is broad support for many of the key aspects of the deal, I appreciate that there remains concern about the backstop. I am determined to do all I can to address the concerns of MPs and the people they represent, to get this deal over the line and deliver Brexit for the British people.
Many thanks again for taking the time to write, and for all your work for our Party in South Cambridgeshire.
Yours sincerely,
Theresa May
