Conservative Policy Forum meeting – our environmental responsibilities

The Conservative Policy Forum is a national Party Group which gives local Party members the opportunity to discuss the major policy challenges facing Britain.

• Respecting nature’s intrinsic value and making sure we are wise stewards of our natural world is critical if we are to leave the environment in a better state than we inherited it.  Our Environment Plan sets out how over the next 25 years we will radically reduce the waste that is choking oceans and rivers, cleanse our air of toxic pollutants and create new habitats for our most precious wildlife to thrive.  The Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, Secretary of State for the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.
   
• The discussion will centre around:
        Climate change
        Renewable energy generation
        Air quality
        Plastic waste reduction; encouragement of recycling
        Tree planting
        Farming and fishing – the future outside the EU
        Brexit – how to strengthen and enhance our environmental protections
        Global leadership – international coalitions to tackle environmental challenges OR focus on
             improving our own country’s environmental quality
        How to encourage greater investment in environmentally friendly goods and services
        Who pays?
   
• The discussion will centre on policies of particular concern to voters under 40, with whom last year’s general election showed we have a distinctive challenge.

With almost 250 active CPF groups across the country and strong professional support from CCHQ**, the CPF has a vital role at the heart of the Conservative Party – with a direct line to the minister for government policy, its members have a real say in the direction our Party is taking.

CPF members played an important role during the 2017 general election, providing a number of contributions towards the manifesto we were elected on; the work of its members in our target seats made a real difference to the outcome.

As we implement our Conservative manifesto and start formulating our vision for 2022, it is as important as ever we demonstrate how only the Conservatives will make the difficult decisions needed to secure a better and brighter future for Britain.

Linda Oliver is the Chairman of this group, which exists to discuss an issue put forward by Conservative Central Office.

Through the CPF, the Party is kept informed of members’ opinions when deciding policy (unlike the Labour Party which appears only to take notice of its union paymasters).

The more members attending, the more valid your arguments and views – so please do come and listen to the arguments and air your views.  All SCCA members are automatically eligible to join the discussion.
