Between now and 7th May, we will be sharing with you 15 reasons to vote Conservative on the big day with a combination of local and national issues.
13. The Conservatives will build a brighter, better future
This includes:
- The Conservatives' plan for the next five years backs businesses with lower taxes and better infrastructure to grow the economy and create more jobs.
- It will reduce the deficit.
- It will take the family home out of Inheritance Tax with a new transferable 'family home allowance' of £175,000 per person...
- ... for a married couple, this will effectively increase the Inheritance Tax threshold to £1 million.
- It will extend the Right to Buy to Housing Association tenants and build 200,000 new Starter Homes – 20% below the market price, for first-time buyers under 40...
- ... and provide 30 hours' free childcare to working parents of three and four year-olds.
- It will freeze rail fares on regulated routes for five years.
- The tax-tree personal allowance will increase to £50,000 by 2020 – and will always rise at least in line with inflation.
- Nobody working 30 hours on the minimum wage will ever pay income tax.
- There will be no increase in income tax rates...
- ... no increases in National Insurance – nor an increase in its ceiling...
- ... no increase in VAT – or an extension in its scope.
- EU immigrant workers in Britain will have to pay tax for four years before they are entitled to claim any in-work benefits.
- With defence now on a secure financial footing, the Conservatives will be investing again in the Royal Navy, the Army, and the Royal Air Force.
- The next Conservative government is committed to increasing NHS spending in England and provide 7-day a week access to your GP – and deliver a truly 7-day NHS.
- It will do even more to tackle crime with tougher sentencing and use new technology to help the police protect the public.
- It will replace the Human Rights Act with a British Bill of Rights.
- On education, a Conservative government will continue to drive up standards in schools, make exams more rigorous and ensure grade inflation is a thing of the past.
- Only the Conservatives will – and - can – give you an in-out referendum on staying in Europe by 2017.
- All of these things depend on a strong and growing economy – which party is best placed to keep our economy strong? The team which delivered the growing economy we have today, which created more jobs since 2010 than the rest of the European Union put together. Or the party which left behind a ruined economy just five years ago?
