Andrew Lansley and Sawston Barclays brewed up £700 for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning – Barclays in Sawston took time out as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s 22nd World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Andrew and staff invited the local community to enjoy a slice of something sweet and a cuppa to turn coffee into cash raising £700 for people affected by cancer. A raffle was drawn on the day and two lucky customers walked away with a Pamper Hamper and a Fruit Basket.
17 Barclays branches in the Cambridgeshire region supported the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning this year raising £8,000 for Macmillan.
In 2011 Barclays’ staff and customers in 1,634 branches across the UK smashed its fundraising target and raised £630,000 for Macmillan to make sure people living with cancer have the best team in their corner, every step of the way. Macmillan is banking on Barclays again this year to raise money for Macmillan Financial Grants1.
Barclays will also be matching the money raised by each branch to double the total donations made by employees and customers.
Andrew Lansley, CBE MP says: “I have seen a great deal of the work that Macmillan Cancer Support do and think that it is a vital part of improving services for cancer patients. This is why I was delighted to join Barclays in Sawston for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, and want to thank them for supporting this excellent cause.
"There are 17 Barclays branches across Cambridgeshire participating this year, with Barclays matching every penny that customers and employees donate. I hope that the residents of South Cambridgeshire will continue to be as generous and supportive of this cause as they have done in this past.”
Carla Morini, Partnership Account Manager from Macmillan Cancer Support says: ‘I’d like to thank all the staff and customers at Barclays’ in Sawston for taking the time out to support Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
"We hope you enjoyed making your coffee break count. The Macmillan team can’t reach everybody affected by cancer without the help of our corporate partners in the local community who put the kettle on to make a difference.’
