A new management team for South Cambridgeshire Conservative Association was put in place at last night's very busy and well-attended AGM at Foxton Village Hall.
It wasn't the result of a coup, but just the coincidence of several officers standing down because their statutory term of office had expired.
The changes mean we have a new Chairman - Ben Shelton, who replaces Bill Potter. During his four years as Chairman, Bill had seen through the sale of the our old office (building on the work done by Donald Douglas when he was chairman) and the move into our present offices, a change of MP from Andrew, now Lord, Lansley to Heidi Allen and the departure of our long-serving Agent, Stephen Frost.
Our Treasurer, Joshua Vanneck handed over the accounts to our new Treasurer, Andrew Brown. Colin Barker took over Ben's old job of Deputy Chairman, Political, while Joshua took on Colin's previous role as Deputy Chairman Membership.
Dorothy Calder MBE remains as our President.
Completing the management team are four officers without portfolio – Tom Bygott, Robert Cook, Kevin Cuffley and Peter Mann. Mark Howard continues as Chairman of our Conservative Policy Forum.
A new fundraising initiative announced at the AGM is the forming of a Business Group to be headed by Lord Lansley.
One note of sadness also announced at the AGM is Denise Smith is to leave us after 26 years of very valuable service to the Association.
