Ben Shelton, our Association Chairman, was invited to a reception with Teresa May, the Prime Minister, at 10 Downing Street yesterday, 21st September.
Sir Patrick McLoughlin, the Party Chairman, introduced her by saying she had flown in from a United Nations meeting in New York that morning and was soon leaving for Florence to give a key speech on Brexit.
Mrs May thanked the Associations for their hard work and commented on the disappointment of the general election – but stressed how essential it is we work together for the whole country, going on to talk about the importance of the party conference the week after next and key negations with the EU.
"It was an honour to meet the Prime Minister in Downing Street and see the cabinet and state rooms and to hear her speaking on the current issues being discussed in government," said Ben.
Chris Philips, Chairman of the South East Association, was also at the event, along with Donald Douglas, the Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire Area Chairman and his deputy, Tom Bygott.
