2016 Police and Crime Commissioner election
Election day – Thursday, 5th May 2016
The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) election on 5th May is a county by county election in England and Wales to elect (in our case) a Commissioner for Cambridgeshire.
Our candidate is Jason Ablewhite. He writes:
South Cambridgeshire holds a very special place in my heart – I grew up in Bar Hill and Dry Drayton and now live in St Ives.
I’ve seen many changes over the years, particularly the way South Cambs has grown at such an incredible pace.
It has some of the nicest villages in the UK and is a very desirable location to live and work. But although the crime rate in South Cambridgeshire is very low – it is one of the safest places in the UK – it is hugely important to me its rural areas are not seen as less of a priority for the police.
Quiet villages can seem isolated for some of our most vulnerable residents, who often fear crime the most.
