Ely Southern Bypass – opening on 31st October
After over ten years of talking, reviewing and planning, the Ely Southern Bypass will be open to traffic on the afternoon of Wednesday 31 October. Once opened, work on the existing underpass at the low bridge will begin to improve access for pedestrians and cyclists – the new bypass needs to be open before work can start on the underpass to encourage drivers to use the new road from the outset.
Junior Travel Ambassador Conference is a first for Cambridgeshire
Cambridgeshire County Council is organising the first Junior Travel Ambassador Conference for over a hundred 10-year-olds from 15 schools in the county. They will take part in the 'fun packed' conference at Huntingdon Race Course on 30th October. Activities will include sharing ideas, 'getting creative' to help them to promote being safe and being seen when out, seeing they are part of a wider network, a theatre workshop and 'big games'. Schools the pupils will represent include Bar Hill, Barrington, Caldecote, Gamlingay and Meldreth.
Overhanging trees or hedges and how to report them
As a County Council, we have a responsibility to maintain the grass verges along the majority of Cambridgeshire’s roads which we do through our grass cutting programme during the summer months.
As overhanging hedges or bushes usually belong to a private individual or landowner, this does not fall under the programme. Members of the public can report an overhanging bush or tree to the council via its online tool – where you can see whether a report has been made and what the status of it is.
