An invitation from George Freeman MP to Big Tent 2018
Saturday 8th September
As you may know, in my work as Chair of the Conservative Policy Forum I have committed to do everything I can to drive the Renewal of Conservative values, principles, and new policy ideas that I believe we urgently need to tackle the very real policy challenges we still face as a nation.
To reconnect a New Generation with the timeless virtues of Conservatism, we need both bold policies that we can sell on the doorstep, but we also need to modernise the way we do politics to make it more engaging for today’s young and professional people.
People don’t affiliate to parties in the same way they used to: many are suspicious of party political machines and structures, put-off by the fear of endless committees, or simply more interested in the issues than the parties.
That’s why we launched the Big Tent Ideas Festival: it’s a new way of reaching out to voters who are interested in ideas and issues and for discovering the inspiring values and positive appeal of enterprise, empowerment and innovation and of a more open, fun, participative and informal political forum.
After last year’s runaway success, this year we have a full Festival of 8 Tents (Economy, Society, Politics, Technology, Innovation, Global Britain, Arts and Culture and Hopes and Fears) and 200 speakers across 50 sessions.
Our full programme is available on the Festival's website – Michael Gove, Penny Mordaunt, Ed Vaizey, Julia Hobsbawm, Robert Peston and Baroness Philippa Stroud are all attending.
We are keen that every MP, local Party, and Council Group in the East has a chance to come and be part of it.
Entry to the Festival for the whole day and all facilities is only £30 (£5 for <16s, £15 for students, £30 for Friends of the Foundation and £50 for the public).
But to help make it easy for you to come and bring some people from your Constituency we are offering all MPs and their party groups in neighbouring counties a SPECIAL DEAL: individual tickets for just £15.
You can book now by going to the ticket link here and using the DISCOUNT CODE: EAST15 to get your discounted tickets.
Places are limited to 2,000 in total and tickets are selling fast. The deadline for ticket purchases is today, Wednesday, 5th September. Because the Babraham Hall campus is secure, there will be no admittance on the day without pre-purchasing a ticket.
Use this link to purchase your tickets.
We really hope you can come and join us and be part of what will be a fantastic day: a day to put the fun back into mainstream politics; to enjoy our shared values as well as our differences, and to show that good mainstream politics can provide and champion the spirit of innovation, imagination, inspiration the Next Generation need.
I look forward to seeing you on Saturday!
