Heidi was joined by two potential future scientists on Wednesday [9th December] when she welcomed two pupils from Icknield Primary to Westminster who had come for a tour of Parliament and to make a presentation at the Earth to space – Taking the challenge Parliamentary event.
"We met some really interesting people who shared their experiences and expertise with us and it was clear how inspired all of the children and young people at the event were." said Tom Snowdon, the deputy head who came with them.
“We had a fantastic time at Westminster today. To be involved in such an exciting event really has inspired the two children who attended, as well as all of the other pupils at our school.
"Anna and Ben were a little bit nervous before their brief presentation, but did a great job and were expertly supported by Dr Helen Mason OBE from the University of Cambridge.
"The day has been a huge success, and it all started with a great tour around Westminster which was kindly organised by Heidi's office."
“It was just brilliant to hear them talk about their love of science and their desire to study maths and physics," Heidi said afterwards. "Entrusting young people at an early age is vital if we are to increase our engineering and technical capability in this country.
"I was also delighted to receive three hand written letters from other pupils inviting me to Icknield Primary School – I look forward to visiting you very soon."
