I am so pleased to congratulate all of our Councillors on their re-election to the South Cambridgeshire District Council and the Cambridge City Council. The fact that we managed to not only retain each of our seats, but actually gain new seats in neighbouring constituencies (against the national trend) is testament to their hard work and commitment to South Cambridgeshire.
Locally, we have a number of pressing issues to be moving forward on together; working towards a long-term solution to the A14, ensuring we have enough affordable housing and support schemes to support all those who need it, securing the delivery of superfast broadband across the area. I look forward to working with each of them on all of these issues over the next year.
On the subject of broadband, which as you know is an issue I have been campaigning hard to improve, can I urge each of you to visit www.connectingcambridgeshire.co.uk . It is vital that we all register our interest to ensure we secure first class broadband in South Cambridgeshire.
Finally, this is a very exciting time for us all here in Cambridge. We have the great honour of having the Olympic Torch passing through the area preceding the London Olympics and Paralympics, and of course celebrations for the Queen’s Jubilee. I wish you and your family a wonderful and celebratory summer.
