It was cold and frosty in Cambourne when Heidi Allen and her husband Phil joined volunteers to help deliver Heidi's first leaflet this morning – still, that was preferable to the pouring rain which hampered Saturday's programme.
"It wasn't so bad once we'd started walking round delivering the leaflets," said Heidi. "The sun even tried to come out, which cheered things up."
Colin Barker, who had organised the weekend 'blitz' on delivering Heidi's leaflets in Cambourne, was sanguine about the weather. "It's the way it is in January," he said, "but even so, well over a dozen people were out delivering over the weekend, including several from other parts of the constituency who had already received Heidi's leaflet and been in touch to see if they could help in her campaign to be our next Member of Parliament."
"It's so nice when people ring me out of the blue and ask how they can help," said Heidi. "There are around 42,000 homes in the South Cambridgeshire constituency and my aim is to deliver leaflets to every one so voters have the opportunity to discover who I am, what I stand for and how I want to represent them should I be fortunate enough to win the seat in the election on 7th May.
Most of Heidi's first leaflet has been delivered across the constituency – one or two small pockets remain: can you help? It only needs an hour or so of your time. Please ring Heidi – her contact details are below.
Meanwhile, planning is beginning on Heidi's second leaflet to capitalise on everything Heidi has seen and learnt since she was chosen as our Parliamentary candidate last October.
