Councillor Robert Turner is the Conservative candidate for Fen Ditton, Great Wilbraham, Horningsea, Little Wilbraham, Six Mile Bottom and Stow-cum-Quy in the SCDC election on 5th May.
Robert has lived in Little Wilbraham for 16 years and has been your district councillor for 12 years – he holds the Planning Portfolio at SCDC.
His interests include gardening – his wonderful garden always draws a lot of attention – skiing and walking in what he calls ‘the beautiful English countryside’.
He has always fiercely protected the Green Belt surrounding our villages and while admitting there has to be some new development locally, Robert always fights on your behalf to stop over development of the six villages he represents.
Local action on your behalf
"The former site of the Blue Lion pub in Fen Ditton contains 40% affordable homes for local people," says Robert.
"This is a very successful development, providing much-needed homes for those locals who simply cannot afford the house prices in this area.
"The Great and Little Wilbraham’s Village Hall is complete and officially opened. Having supported it at the planning stage, I’m delighted it has come to fruition.
"It is a great example to us all of a wonderful effort by the Parish Council and local people working together – well done!
"The small housing development in The Lanes, Great Wilbraham, has allowed me to secure £12,000 for the Parish Council to spend on village projects.
"With lots of sightings of barn owls locally, I have installed a nesting box for them as part of the conservation work at The Pits, Little Wilbraham."
Taking a stand
"The ‘Wing’ development in Fen Ditton parish is in the throes of going through the planning process," says Robert.
"It is a large development, but will not encroach upon the village. No road access will be allowed from High Ditch Road. There are a lot of planning concerns to sort out as yet, including the percentage of affordable housing and transport issues.
"In Horningsea, the greatest concern is to protect the village from being a ‘rat run’ when the new development at Waterbeach is completed. I will do all I can to ensure ‘rat running’ does not happen.
"I am pleased to see the 30 mph limit through Quy has finally been agreed by Highways."
