South Cambridgeshire District Council has issued a press release reminding voters polling stations will be open from 7.00 am to 10.00 pm tomorrow (Thursday 23 June) for them to cast their vote in the EU referendum.
Ballot papers ask the question 'Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?'. There are two boxes in which to put your cross – one to 'remain' and one to 'leave'.
The press release goes on to advise voters:
- You don’t need your poll card with you to be able to vote.
- If you haven’t returned your postal vote, completed and sealed voting packs can be dropped off at your polling station between 7.00 am and 10.00 pm.
- South Cambridgeshire's polling stations are at the same location they were on 5th May, with two exceptions – Grantchester polling station has moved from the Reading Room on the High Street to Grantchester Communal Centre, Tabrum Close, CB3 9NW and the Milton polling station has moved from the Bowls Pavilion on Coles Road to Milton Community Centre, Coles Road, CB24 6BL.
- You can only cast your vote at the polling station your home address is registered under – the address is on your poll card, or you can find it online via the link at www.scambs.gov.uk/elections.
- If voters have a disability, polling station staff are able to offer a range of help from large print ballot papers to refer to, to helping voters mark their ballot paper.
- Applications for an emergency proxy – where someone you trust votes on your behalf – may only be made on the grounds of disability or for work/service reasons, and under certain legally outlined circumstances, until 5.00 pm on Thursday 23 June. Please email elections@scambs.gov.uk or phone 03450 455 214.
Jean Hunter, chief executive and counting officer at South Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “Staff at our 120 polling stations will be ready and willing to help voters tomorrow.
"There may be queues at busy times, so please do consider heading to your polling station earlier rather than later. The polls close at 10.00 pm, but as long as you are in the queue before then, you’ll be able to cast your vote.”
