The second Inter Constituency Quiz between South Cambridgeshire (SCCA), South East Cambridgeshire (SECCA) and Cambridge City Association (CCCA) took place at Bottisham British Legion on Saturday, 8 October.
South Cambridgeshire was represented by five teams and South East and Cambridge City by three each. David Campbell Bannerman MEP and Area Chairman Robert Mackay took part with the City teams.
The subject matters for the quiz were: This England; Sports questions; Cinema and TV; The Royal Family; Film music; Food and drink; Political themes; Well known classical music and General knowledge. There was also a picture table round – and a round on Southern Cambridgeshire villages, which you'll find reproduced (with an extra question) at the bottom of this page.
There was keen competition throughout the evening, with much friendly banter and the odd jokey offers of going outside for quick fisticuffs when a few people didn’t quite agree with quiz master Colin Barker – who, needless to say, took no prisoners.
The overall team prize was won by South’s Quiz Team Aquilera (as they did last year). The Layabouts, unfortunately another South team, took the losing prize (er, as they did last year). The Association winning overall was once again Cambridge City.
Congratulations to all who took part in the evening – as Denise says, ‘It’s the taking part that matters’, even if Stephen disagrees – with his motto of ‘Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing’ giving a clue as to why he always wins! (If you haven't guessed, he was part of Quiz Team Aquilera.)
A really delicious spread was provided by Gina Youens, Linda Yeatman, Alison Elcox, Dorothy Calder, Colin Barker and Denise Smith. A big, thanks, too to Colin Barker for putting the quiz together, thinking up some clever questions (especially the South Cambridgeshire round which was based on cryptic clues of village names) and running a hugely enjoyable event.
The results for the evening were:
Quiz Team Aquilera 210 (SCCA)
Jolly Rogers 199 (SECCA)
Blues & Yellows 190 (CCCA)
Light Blues 181 (CCCA)
Presidents Pearls 179 (SCCA)

Pay off your credit Cards 172 (CCCA)
Late Comers 170 (SCCA)
