Today is a very important day for the future of Cambridgeshire.
Please play your part by voting for the Conservative candidates in the Mayoral and County elections – and the Bourn ward by-election.
County
Fact There is no overall majority at the County Council. Since 2013 no party has had a majority in the County Council – despite this, Conservatives stopped the County’s portion of the Council Tax being raised by 4.99% this April, keeping it to a 0% rise for general rates and agreeing a 2% precept ring-fenced specifically for adult social care.
By putting the Conservatives in control of the County Council, we can radically reform it to protect and improve front line services.
See our news page for details of who is standing for the Conservatives locally.
Mayor
Fact The new Mayor will have the power to change the way we live in Cambridgeshire – our fine county is hamstrung by poor infrastructure, a serious housing problem and a skills shortage.
The government is providing £770m to help put this right. James Palmer is the only candidate who can be trusted to spend the money wisely.
He will run a small, tight, Mayoral office and, with his experience of delivering big projects in East Cambridgeshire, succeed in bringing more apprenticeships, more skills, more affordable housing where it is needed and getting a handle on the infrastructure chaos which blights Cambridge and South Cambs.
REMEMBER
- For the Mayoral election, you have first and second preference votes - you do not have to use both of them. You need only vote once: please give your first preference to James Palmer and do not give a second preference vote to anyone – none of them share our Conservative values. See the second graphic, above.
- Every Conservative vote counts – it is imperative for the Conservatives to regain overall control of the County Council and radically reform it to protect and improve front line services.
- Don't worry if you have lost / can't find your poll card – you do not not need it to vote.
- In Bourn ward, there is also a by-election for the District Council. Ruth Betson is our very capable – and very hardworking – candidate. Please vote for her.
- Polling stations are open from 7.00 am to 10.00 pm. You can find your polling station via this link.
