Sawston Village College hosted a visit by Andrew Lansley MP to discuss the Send My Friend to School campaign. Pupils supported the campaign in June 2012 to help highlight the fact that over 67 million children around the world are still missing out on an education.
Pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 produced Go for Gold! medals and spoke out for education by including personalised messages outlining the importance of education for all. Pupils sent their medals to Andrew Lansley and to the Prime Minister, The Rt Hon David Cameron.
A group of ten pupils from Years 8, 9 and 10 met with Andrew today to discuss the campaign and their views on education for all children. They shared statistics and ideas of how to raise awareness of why investing in education is so important.
Spurred on by a letter from the Prime Minister, pupils will research the priorities outlined by the Department for International Development and continue to take part in the Send My Friend to School campaign to educate all children by 2015.
