SCCA Office BBQ – story and pictures

Lots of people joined Denise and Stephen at our Hardwick office HQ on 11 May 2013 to wind down after the County Council elections on 2 May – which, as Denise reports, had been very successful from the Association's point of view.

The office BBQ was organised via e-mail... not one meeting to discuss the arrangements!

Based on the one we held last year, Stephen and I decided to hold it as a 'Winding down BBQ after the elections' – turned out for some to be a celebration too in more ways than one! 

Our three of our four newly elected County Councillors turned up – Peter Topping, who gained the Duxford Seat, Adrian Dent who held Bassingbourn (previously held by Linda Oliver), and Stephen Frost who won in Hardwick.  Only Roger 'I always win by one' Hickford couldn't make it.  (He won the Linton seat by one vote – exactly as he did in the District Council elections last year.)

To top this, Jackie Smith and Viv Piper, whose birthdays were on Sunday and Monday, also joined our party.

In all, 40 Association members came along – a good number for our meeting room and back garden.

Preparations begun at 10.30 am for a 12.30 pm start – bunting went up, tables and chairs put out and the BBQ lit just as the salads and puddings started arriving courtesy of the hardworking and enthusiastic fundraising team.

Well done to everyone for their help and for attending.

And the weather didn’t put anyone off either – despite a shower of rain, the majority of people were able to enjoy themselves in the garden, the real downpour only appearing as we were clearing up.
