There are two elections this coming Thursday (three if you live in Bourn ward) – and we have the candidates.
Click here for a reminder of our main election leaflet - listing our County achievements and plans and why James Palmer is the best choice for Mayor.
James Palmer – the Conservative candidate for the Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.
- See Theresa May gives James Palmer her backing.
- James' own website.
- James is committed to improving the infrastructure – only James has the bold idea of an underground for Cambridge and a light railway into South Cambs.
- Only James Palmer believes buses are not the solution, but, rather, a clean, integrated system, fit for a world leading education and technology centre.
- For this election, you have first and second preference votes - you do not have to use both of them. You need only vote once: please give your first preference to James Palmer and do not give a second preference vote to anyone – after all, none of them share Conservative values.
For the County Council election, we have these candidates in South Cambridgeshire:
Bar Hill division: Lynda Harford (sitting member / Bar Hill)
Cambourne division: Mark Howell
Cottenham & Willingham division: Tim Wotherspoon
Duxford division: Peter Topping (sitting member / Duxford)
Gamlingay division: Heather Williams
Hardwick division: Lina Joseph
Longstanton, Northstowe & Over division: Peter Hudson (sitting member / Willingham)
Melbourn & Bassingbourn division: Joshua Vanneck
Papworth & Swavesey division: Mandy Smith (sitting member / Papworth and Swavesey)
Queen Edith's division: Manas Deb
Sawston & Shelfords division: Kevin Cuffley and Roger Hickford (sitting member / Linton)
In Bourn ward, there is also a by-election for the District Council (caused by the retirement through ill health of Mervyn Loynes).
- Our candidate is Ruth Betson - local, young and believes this election is not about politics – it’s about community.
Please do go and vote! As you know, every vote counts – because it is imperative for the Conservatives to regain overall control of the County Council and radically reform it to protect and improve front line services.
Don't worry if you have lost / can't find your poll card – you do not not need it to vote.
PLEASE – we still need to remind voters to go and vote... please ring Colin Barker and offer your time to deliver a few leaflets locally. Every bit really does help.
